Frager states his target

TENNIS is his fascination and Robert Frager jumps at any opportunity to compete in an event and the general manager of Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel is already talking about winning the CEO and Celebrity Charity Tennis on his debut.
Frager, 53, was supposed to play in the inaugural event last year but had to return to his homeland Austria for personal reasons but is all set to compete in this year's edition at the National Tennis Centre (NTC) in Jalan Duta on Dec 13.

The credentials Frager comes with definitely make him one of the favourites to win the mix-and-match doubles event as he has been actively involved in tennis for 38 years as a club player in Voelkermarkt in Vienna during his younger days.

Frager continued to play actively when he was working in Hong Kong in the 1990s and was a two-time HK Hotels league champion.

"I have been actively involved in tennis for 38 years and have played in so many tournaments at club level. I love to compete and win and I'm looking forward to the CEO and Celebrity Tennis after missing it last year," said Frager after a training session at the Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel yesterday.

"It will be nice to win the tournament but participating in the event is a victory by itself.

"Besides the competition, I am looking forward to meeting a lot friends, share ideas and have discussions on so many issues.

"Our hotel has been organising charity events regularly and this is one of the reasons why I am keen to support this event."

Frager also gave away a token contribution for the NSTP Charity Fund yesterday.

Frager never compromises on his fitness regime as he works out at the hotel's gym four times a week, does 30-minute running twice a week and plays tennis twice a week besides getting regular coaching tips from former national player O. Vasuthevan.

The CEO & Celebrity Charity Tennis is held in conjunction with the ECM Libra Foundation-LTA of Malaysia (LTAM) Junior Tennis Championships (Dec 14-21) and is jointly organised by NSTP and Bursa Malaysia.
